Mercer Island Mountain Bike Advocates (MIMBA) was formed to support mountain biking on Mercer Island. The primary mission is to engage the community to promote access to biking facilities and stewardship of biking areas on Mercer Island.
The closure of the Bike Skills Area in Upper Luther Burbank Park in 2021 was the catalyst for the formation of this organization. The creation aligns with the growing popularity of the activity in our region and the need to support kids in our community with healthy activities and provide social opportunities.
Additionally, the organization raises funds and supports the Mercer Island middle and high school mountain bike teams.
MIMBA is a 501 (c) (3) organization. The current members include:
- President – Brian Shiers
- Treasurer/Secretary – Jody Lee
- Board Members – Jay Greer; Katie Bunker; Ryan Cudney
- NGO Advisor – Kate Akyuz
Update:
New board members have been elected. Thanks to Rachel Halloway and Anthony Hargreaves for their time to establish and guide MIMBA.
