BSA Design Input | Support the New Park

Shape the Design

The Mercer Island Bike Skills Area is progressing to the next phase following the closure of the BSA in Upper Luther Burbank Park.

The City has contracted with American Ramp Company (ARC) to design a new Bike Skills Area at Deane’s Children’s Park. Over the next few months, ARC, City staff, the Parks & Recreation Commission, and the community will collaborate to develop the 30% design for a new facility.

The city launched a new Let’s Talk page for this design work and community engagement process at letstalk.mercergov.org/bike-skills-area-design. This is the location where the city will share updates about the project.

The project is moving into the community feedback phase. The first of these is a community survey for the new BSA in Deane’s Children’s Park. Add your support for the BSA in this new location and provided detailed input on the type of features you’d like to see in a design. Take the survey now. Parents, community members, and kids who plan to ride in the BSA should complete the survey.

The second is an in-person community meeting at Deane’s Children’s Park on Thursday, November 17 from 4-6 PM. This meeting will provide the opportunity for the community to participate in a conversation about the Bike Skills Area design and see the site of the BSA during this community meeting. City staff and American Ramp Company will be there to listen, answer questions, and gather feedback that will ultimately shape the conceptual design due in December. This is a great opportunity to share input on features for the design and get to know the design team. A reminder that it’s an outdoor event so dress warmly. I hope to see many of you at the meeting.
