MI BSA Construction Started

Ramps waiting for install at the MI BSA

Construction on the Mercer Island Bike Skills Area started the week of October 2nd, 2023! MIMBA is stoked to see construction begin and bring this vision to life. The ramp structures are on-site at the construction site. The construction timeline is weather dependent so a firm ETA is unavailable. Until construction is complete please respect the trail closures and ensure the builders can efficiently complete the construction. Until then we can look at the design concept.

MIMBA has asked to collaborate with the city on an opening event including a drop-in skills clinic to help riders safely take on the new course. Consider donating to MIMBA to support this opening event and future investments. We will share details as a schedule becomes available.

Volunteer events will be required to complete the BSA area to re-plant ferns and other plants. Many of these were salvaged from the area during volunteer events this summer. MIMBA and the MI bike team plan to host a volunteer event on November 4th. Stay tuned for upcoming events to get the BSA complete.

Here are a couple of photos from the BSA location showing the start of this work.

It’s been almost 2 years since the closure of the BSA in Upper Luther Burbank Park – it’s been a long journey but all good things take effort to realize.

Happy Trails Everyone!
